Polycystic ovarian syndrome is a common finding in women with a delay in conceiving. PCOS is the grouping together of several findings including irregular periods, excess male hormones and ultrasound features.

If we suspect that you may have PCOS then we will organize the appopriate blood tests, and the detailed ultrasound examination will be looking at your ovaries with this condition in mind.

It is perfectly possible to have polycystic ovaries on ultrasound without hormonal imbalances or irregular periods.
